Direct billing at top Bangkok hospitals

Most American families in Thailand are one hospital visit away from a financial crisis.

Thailand's private hospitals are world-class, Bumrungrad, Samitivej, Bangkok Hospital. But they are also businesses. Without direct-billing insurance, they will ask you for a cash deposit before they treat you. A serious admission, cardiac event, appendix, broken leg requiring surgery, can run $15,000 to $50,000 before you leave the building.

And if you have children in an international school, you know the school nurse's answer to anything beyond a plaster is: "Go to the hospital." That's not a problem. Unless you're uninsured, or on a policy that doesn't cover what you think it covers.

The other thing most Americans don't realise until it's too late: almost every Thailand-based or regional health insurance policy will not cover you when you visit the US. One emergency room visit in the States without coverage can cost more than a year of premiums. This is the gap that catches families off guard.

This is not a comparison website. It's a conversation.

We are a specialist expat health insurance brokerage. We work with the leading international insurers, Cigna Global, Allianz Care, AXA Global Healthcare, Now Health, Vumi, and we compare them side by side for your specific family situation. No generic quotes. No call centres. A real person who knows Thailand.

We cover the US gap, properly

We can structure a plan that includes genuine US coverage for your family visits home, not just emergency evacuation. We'll show you the cost difference and help you decide what makes sense for your situation.

Your children are included, not an afterthought

Paediatric cover, vaccinations, school physicals, dental, we make sure your children's coverage is as solid as yours. We cover families from newborn through university age.

Direct billing at Bangkok's top hospitals

The plans we recommend include direct billing at Bumrungrad, Bangkok Hospital, Samitivej, and BNH. You walk in, show your card, and leave without paying a deposit.

Pre-existing conditions handled honestly

We won't hide the truth about pre-existing conditions. We'll tell you exactly what will and won't be covered, and find the insurer most likely to offer the best terms for your specific history.

Someone who picks up the phone

When your child is in the ER at 2am and the hospital is asking for paperwork, you need a broker who answers. We are based in Bangkok, in the same timezone, and we take that seriously.

What other American families in Thailand say

"We'd been putting off sorting insurance for two years, classic expat procrastination. After one call with David we had three options in front of us, all priced out for our family of four. We went with Cigna Global and the whole process took less than a week."

Michael R.

American, Bangkok · Family of 4 · Cigna Global

"My son had a bad fall at school and we ended up in Samitivej for two nights. The direct billing worked exactly as promised, we walked out without paying a baht. That alone was worth every penny of the premium."

Jennifer T.

American, Chiang Mai · Family of 3 · Allianz Care

"I specifically needed a plan that would cover us when we go back to the States for Christmas. Most brokers couldn't really explain the options. EHG laid it out clearly, here's what US coverage costs, here's what it covers, here's the trade-off. Made the decision easy."
